MSE has once again been recognized among the nation’s best in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings. The undergraduate program is ranked No. 3, holding its spot among the top three for an additional year, while the graduate program has maintained its No. 7 ranking.

MSE Chair Natalie Stingelin discussed how much of an honor it is to be recognized so highly. "Remaining ranked among the top Materials Science and Engineering programs in the country is a tremendous honor. I am grateful to our faculty, staff, and students whose dedication makes this possible. As a school, we are committed to continually advancing our research and teaching while showing how materials science drives progress in health care, energy, sustainability, quantum technologies, and so much more.”

“These rankings demonstrate the incredible momentum of our school,” said Tristen Jones, Educational Outreach Manager for MSE. “I’m proud to be part of a program that not only leads in research and academics but also inspires future materials scientists and engineers. This recognition pushes us to keep creating new ways for students and industry partners to connect, collaborate, and innovate.”
