Women in MSE Georgia Tech

 

MISSION STATEMENT

WiMSE supports women students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology by

  • Creating a platform for professional development
  • Fostering supportive student and professional networks
  • Advocating for policies that support women students in materials science at the departmental, institutional, and professional levels 

 

Recent Events

  • Annual Welcome Brunch for all women graduate students and professors
  • Open meetings where students voice their concerns and coach each other to solutions
  • Study breaks: hikes in local parks, annual MSE graduate  student  Thanksgiving dinner, and pet therapy socials
  • Seminars with Dr. Nancy Gray (CEO of Gordon Research Conferences), Dr. Kristin Brosnan (GT Alumna Hall of Fame Inductee), Prof. Tejal Desai (Dept. Chair at UC San Francisco), and many more
  • K.I.D.S. Club—Saturday K-12 demos with GT’s CEISMIC
