Yong Ding, Meilin Liu and ZL Wang publish research paper in Materials Today
Principal Research Engineer Yong Ding, Regent Professors Meilin Liu and ZL Wang, and their cooperators have published their recent work in Materials Today. In this research paper "Quantitative Nanoscale Tracking of Oxygen Vacancy Diffusion in Single Ceria Grains by in situ Transmission Electron Microscopy," they developed a new methodology to investigate the dynamic diffusion process of oxygen vacancies inside ceria with nanoscale spatial resolution and explored some critical properties of oxygen vacancies. Such methodology can be extended to investigate oxygen vacancies in other important functional oxide materials. They quantitatively tracked the dynamic process of oxygen vacancies diffusion inside single pure/Sm doped ceria grain with spatial resolution better than 2 nm using in-situ scanning nano-beam diffraction or the so-called 4-dimensional scanning transmission electron microscopy (4D STEM).
