Construction of Hierarchical TiO2 Nanomaterials and Interfacial Engineering for Enhancing Energy Conversion Efficiency of Dye Sensitized and Peroskite Solar Cells
In this work, we constructed various hierarchical structures of TiO2 nanomaterials and interface modifications for enhancing energy conversion efficiency of dye sensitized and perovskite solar cells. Some strategies were developed and discussed here, such as (1) highly-ordered TiO2 nanotube arrays (NTAs) were firstly fabricated via electrochemical anodization on titanium foil or Ti-sputtered FTO substrate, followed by a chemical post-treatment to form rough TiO2 nanoparticles film on the top of NTAs; (2) multi-splitted 1-D rutile TiO2 NRAs were constructed on FTO substrate by hydrothermal reaction and chemical etching route; (3) hierarchically structured TiO2 nanotube arrays composed of an underlayer of highly ordered anatase TiO2 nanotubes with small rutile nanocrystal emerged on the tube walls and a top layer of flower-shaped structures containing dispersedly grown short rutile TiO2 nanorods; (4) Interfacial modifications were conducted with amino-functionalized graphene and insulating polymer between perovskite and spiro-OMeTaD layers. All efforts were respectively demonstrated to be able to remarkably enhance the energy conversion efficiency for dye sensitized and perovskite solar cells.
Chang-Jian Lin, majoring in electrochemistry and materials, won his PhD at Xiamen University in 1985, and then conducted postdoc research at National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST), USA in 1987-1990. He was also invited as guest scientist and visiting professor at NIST, University of Science and Technology of Hong Kong and Alberta University in 1994, 1997 and 1999 respectively. Professor Lin became a full professor in both Department of Chemistry and State Key Laboratory for Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces at Xiamen University since 1991, and honored distinguished professor since 2006. He now is vice chairman of Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection and council member of Chinese Society of Biomaterials. Prof. Lin has already co-authored 450 papers in peer-review journals (H-index: 48), obtained 46 issued patents and 15 important scientific awards and honors, and supervised more than 120 PhD and Master students.
