Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Survey
Sponsored by the University Materials Council
Fall 2007

Dear Colleagues:

Thank you for agreeing to participate in this important survey being sponsored by the University Materials Council (UMC). The results of the survey will be compiled and shared with the participating universities. Through this survey, we are attempting to develop consistent benchmarking data that will be updated annually and will be useful to the MSE departments in preparing for  ABET visits and also for a variety of other purposes in their own Schools. There are two separate parts of the survey. The first part should be completed by those universities that have a separate MSE department  (see note below) and the second part by those universities that have an interdisciplinary materials program. If a university has both an MSE department and an interdisciplinary materials program they are invited to complete both parts.

NOTE: For the purposes of this survey, Departments of MSE also include separate departments of Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramics or Ceramic Engineering, or Polymers or Polymer Engineering.
