The 3rd International Conference on One-dimentional Nanomaterials (ICON 2009) will be held at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia U.S.A. on December 7-9, 2009. The conference will be chaired by Professor Zhong Lin (Z.L.) Wang. Worldwide leading scientists will deliver keynote and invited talks anticipating over 250 international attendees. CONFERENCE BACKGROUND
ICON 2005 was organized by Professor Li-Chyong Chen of the Naitonal Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, with 15 internationally invited speakers and over 200 participants. ICON 2007 was co-organized by Professors Lars Samuelson, Reine Wallenberg and Knut Deppert of Lund University at Sweden, with more than 30 international invited speakers and over 150 participants.
CONFERENCE SCOPE
One-dimensional (1D) nanomaterials, including but not limited to nanowires, nanobelts and nanotubes, represent an important and broad class of nanomaterials at the forefront of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The most representative 1D nanomaterials, for example, are silicon nanowires and ZnO nanowires/nanobelts. 1D nanomaterials can be rationally and predictably synthesized in single crystal form with all key parameters controlled during growth: chemical composition, diameter, length, doping, growth direction, possibly surfaces, spatial distribution and patterning, and choice of substrates. 1D nanomaterials thus represent one of best-defined and controlled classes of nanoscale building blocks, which correspondingly have enabled a wide-range of devices and integration strategies to be pursued in a rational manner. This conference will cover the forefront research and inventions in rational synthesis, structure and property characterizations, device fabrication, system assembly and novel applications of 1D nanomaterials in nanoelectronics, nano-optoelectronics, nanophotonics, biomedical sciences, sensors, nano-enabled energy technology (solar cell, thermoelectric, piezoelectric nanogenerator, energy storage), nanopiezotronics, and environmental sciences.
2009 Workshop on Statistical Methods for Nanoresearch, December 9, 2009, 1:00 - 6:00 p.m.
ICON 2009 registration also includes the workshop.
