- Production and separation of chemicals from biorenewable resources
- Characterization and utilization of waste materials

- Maohong Fan has published about seventy journal papers in different environmental, chemical, biochemical and energy journals such as Environmental Science & Technology, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, Journal of Environmental Engineering, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Water Research Environment, Chemosphere, Chemical
Engineering Journal, Bioresource Technology, Fuel, and Energy and Fuels.
- He is an editor for several journals issues, book and book chapters in environmental and chemical areas.
Projects
- He has received many awards from domestic and international scientific research entities such as US Department of Energy and US EPA, Research Institute of Innovative Technology
for Earth/NEDO in Japan, and Science and Technology Commission in Beijing of China. He has also worked with many chemicals manufacturing, energy production and environmental
protection companies in different countries on research and industrial projects.
