Dr. Frederick is a professor with the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and holds a joint appointment with the School of Materials Science and Engineering. He is also the Director of the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST) at Georgia Tech. Dr. Frederick previously held
the positions of Associate Professor (1976-1980) and Professor (1997-2001) at IPST. His prior academic experience includes 10 years on the faculty of Chemical Engineering at Oregon State
University, where he was head of that department from 1992-96. From 2001-2003, he held the CEI Professorship in Green Chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology, Gotherburg Sweden. He
was Visiting Professor of Chemical Engineering at Åbo Akademi University in Turku, Finland from 1988-1991. He also has industrial experience with Weyerhaeuser Company and General Motors.
Dr. Frederick's research interests are in Environmentally Sustainable Industries and Process Technology. His work in this area has focused on chemicals and energy from industrial wastes,
and on improved technologies for chemical and energy recovery.
