Atlanta, GA 30332-0245 Office: Bunger-Henry, Room 116A Phone: 404.894.2879  | Fax: 404.894.9140 stephen.antolovich@mse.gatech.edu Dr. Antolovich received his BS and MS in Metallurgical Engineering, from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) 1962, 1963 and his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of California (Berkeley), 1966. He held positions as a Senior Research Scientist at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory (1967-1968), Professor of Materials Science, University of Cincinnati (1968 -1983), Professor of Materials Engineering and Director of Mechanical Properties Research Laboratory at Georgia Tech 1983-1993).  During his years at Georgia Tech, Professor Antolovich was the founding Director of the School of Materials Science (1986-1993).  From 1993-2000 he was Professor and Director of the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University (WSU).  He is currently Professor Emeritus at Georgia Tech and Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (50% service) at Washington State University.  Over the course of his career he has held professorships at numerous universities in France and at Chungnam National University in Korea. Research Interests Damage detection via CT High temp materials Fracture Mechanics Fatigue, fracture and failure analysis Basics of deformation in metals and intermetallics    Dr. Antolovich has received numerous honors and awards including: Outstanding Teacher in the Engineering College at the University of Cincinnati (1972) Outstanding Faculty Member by the Georgia Tech Graduate Student Senate (1984) Outstanding Research Development Award from Georgia Tech (1987) Fellow of ASM International (1987) Fellow of ASME (2000) Reaumur Medal from the French Metallurgical Society in recognition of a body of research of major importance to industry (1988) Nadai Award by the ASME for contributions to understanding deformation, fatigue and fracture of engineering and model materials (1990) Outstanding Materials Science Instructor Award in 2001 at Washington State University He has published well over 100 articles in journals and books and, along with colleagues from Georgia Tech has co-authored an introductory text in Materials Science. He has served as the Associate Editor of numerous engineering journals, chaired research advisory panels for government laboratories and held numerous high-level consultantships to industry and government.
